Fake egg size larger than chicken eggs, and when broken it is trueno egg center, odorless, shiny and rough.
According to the Consumers Association of Penang (CAP), whichhas menerimaaduan of consumers who purchase 30 eggs on an artificial market price of RM11 in Pulau Tikus in Georgetownyesterday.
CAP president SM Mohamed Idris, said the investigation revealed that the fake egg shell is made of paraffin wax, gypsum andcalcium carbonate powder and the egg yolk and egg white use ofsodium alginate, alum, geletin, benzoic acid, calcium chloride,water and food color food.
"The components of these chemicals can affect the health ofconsumers, such as disturbing the metabolism, brain, nerve cellsand affect liver function," he said.
Mohamed Idris said the government should take immediate action to seize and ban all the fake egg as it would mislead consumers in addition to adversely affect health.
A victim of a fake egg purchases only wanted to be known as Loh,50, said he realized that he bought eggs from the Pulau Tikusmarket was false after hearing complaints of a buyer through radiobroadcasts.
"After hearing the complaints of a user in the radio, I continue toexamine the eggs bought it and was shocked to find that I bought a chicken egg is indeed false," he said.
Loh said he and his family have been eating fake chicken eggs since a month ago.
